Scotland,England and Wales.

Europe-Scotland-Edinburgh   Edinburgh the capital of Scotland.  The castle bring the most famous site here. Always a friendly place and I am saying that from a Irish point of view. A very fine city.

This Scottish regional stamp shows a thistle one of the national emblems of Scotland.

Europe-United Kingdom-Edinburgh   Here we have the Royal Yacht Britannia. This was the ship used by the Queen for worldwide travels. It is now a tourist attraction. Also used for functions. It was interesting to see and I was surprised how small the bedrooms were.

Showing two first class stamps from the United Kingdom.

Europe-United Kingdom-Bristol   Bristol an old English town. The postcard is a good reflection of the sites on offer.

This stamp shows the outside of a retail department store in Birmingham England.

Europe-Wales-Cardiff   My first visit to Cardiff the capital of  Wales. Took me a while to get here, being so close to Dublin. The castle was the main attraction here. I have to say I much prefer the Wales small towns and countryside.

This Welsh regional stamp shows a daffodil ,one of the national symbols of Wales.

Europe

Europe-Guernsey-St. Peter Port  I have visited Guernsey twice and is my favourite of the channel Islands. Is is quite easy to get around. The blue postboxes instead of the normal red UK colour. Visited the house of Victor Hugo the French novelist and best known for "Les Miserables ." Great food overlooking the harbour. Certainly the card is correct Beautiful Guernsey.

Guernsey one of the Channel Island issues its own stamps.  The post office has a nice philatelic section.

Europe-Alderney-Saint Anne  Alderney one of the Islands of Guernsey. The village  of Saint Anne is very nice. You could spend a nice few days here. My visit was short and only spent the day here on a flight from Guernsey. The town in quaint .

Alderney has their own stamps issued by the post office of Guernsey.  The postmark says Alderney Guernsey. There is one post office in Saint Anne.

Europe-Northern Ireland -Belfast  The Parliament Buildings at Stormont  in Belfast. On this occasion I visited the building. I met an MP and arranged a visit and had lunch. It was a very educational day.

Northern Ireland issues regional stamps in addition to the regular UK stamps. This is a regional  stamp showing some Belleek pottery. I have been to the Belleek shop which is in the west of Northern Ireland. This lattice basket is their most famous trademark.

Europe-Wales-Anglesey. This was a day trip from Dublin by fast ferry. Just 99 minutes. Dublin to Hollyhead. The main attraction here is the Norman Castles.  They will be seen in a future postcard.  I visited Port Meirion which is a nice village designed in the style of a Italian village.

Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwll-llantysiliogogogoch  This is the name of the village where this card was posted. I suspect it is the longest name post office in the world. The postmark is special in that it is a first day of issue for this stamp. For this occasion the post office had permission for this postmark. You can see the address is curled around so it can fit the name in.
