Santa Cruz de la Palma

 Atlantic Ocean-Canary Islands-La Palma-Santa Cruz de la Palma .
A bit of a long name, but the main town on the island of La Palma. I would have to say beautiful . Full of charm and well persevered. A very small town and easy to walk around. Loved it.

The Post office was at the harbour. No selection of stamps. Had these from an earlier purchase. Loved the postmark showing a ship.

La Palma Volcano

Atlantic Ocean-Canary Islands-La Palma This postcard showing a volcano , which is what La Palma is now famous for. It erupted in September 2021 and finished in December 2021.

The main Post Office on La Palma is down by the Port. Hence the postmark which is showing a ferry. It was handstamped on the spot. The office itself had no standard stamps only stickers. I had purchased these stamps in advance from a Post office in Gran Canaria.

Tejeda - Gran Canaria

Atlantic Ocean-Canary Islands-Gran Canaria-Tededa This is in the area of the middle of the island. Very green . The weather was like 4 seasons up here all in one day. A good day out.

Got this stamps from the main Post office in Maspalmomas on the coast. Was not surprised to see it had not been cancelled. More often the case now. Showing the currency previous to the Euro , The Peseta.

Map of Canary Islands

Atlantic Ocean-Canary Islands- Gran Canaria This is a map showing the islands in the group. The postcard itself has volcanic sand as the basis for each island. Different. First time back in 3 years. A great time to get away to nice warm weather.

Loved this stamp showing a high speed train. Though not a reality in Canary Islands. Posted this in a post box and as so often no postmark. This postmark is the one received in Dublin Ireland coming in.

Puerto Rico - Canary Islands

Atlantic Ocean-Canary Islands-Gran Canaria-Puerto Rico I had holidayed here for many years in the late 80s . I spend a half day here and seen how much has changed and yet it stays the same. The same here was imported from Mauritania as it is not a natural beach

I posted this in Las Palmas airport . Stamps showing Las Palmas as part of a set issued for each island in the Canaries.

La Laguna - World Heritage Site

Atlantic Ocean-Canary Islands-Tenerife-La Laguna This was the old capital and had a very lovely evening here. It is about 45 mins by tram from Santa Cruz. Nice old buildings and full of atmosphere. This is also a World Heritage Site.

I especially like this stamp for how simple it is. Just a single flip flop as we all them on the sand with the blue of the sea on the side.

Santa Cruz de Tenerife

Atlantic Ocean-Canary Islands-Tenerife-Santa Cruz de Tenerife This is the capital of Tenerife . One of the main attractions here is the beautiful Opera House. It is stunning outside as well as inside. Was just here for the day so did not get to see a show. But there is a lovely cafe and a great vies over the sea.

The stamp on the right is one of the stamps issued for each Canary Island. I loved the stain glass window stamp with a beautiful finish , heard to see here.

Puerto de la Cruz - Tenerife

Atlantic Ocean-Canary Islands-Tenerife-Puerto de la Cruz Took a short flight here from Gran Canaria. It was in fact cheaper then the boat trip. A nice enough town , stayed overnight.

Head Post Office building here quite impressive outside. Had a good selection of stamps on offer. Very clear postmark.

Gran Canaria

Atlantic Ocean-Canary Islands-Gran Canaria-Playa del Ingles. I always enjoy map cards. This one shows Gran Canaria which I have been to many times. Nice for a winter break .

Many have the post offices in Spain have no choice of stamps and will try sell you a pack of definitive stamps. Got all these stamps when I was in Tenerife as there was a Head Post Office there. Postmark is Last Palmas even though posted in Playa del Ingles.

Gran Canaria and London - Penny Black

Atlantic Ocean-Canary Islands-Gran Canary-Las Palmas   Just back from my real holidays..lol.. Where I just relax with friends and no major sightseeing. This is a hologram card.

Loads of Postboxes on the Island. This is a special €5 stamp featuring the new King. It has a special signal /code that on the stamp. I have downloaded a app on my phone. When I place the app near the stamp a video of the stamps issues by Spain featuring the King is played . All in Spanish but interesting nevertheless. Ireland itself has just issued a set with this same special code and I play to send a postcard with them so I can see what they have in-bedded.

Europe-United Kingdom-London   The Post office near Trafalgar square is excellent. I was very impressed with the selection of stamp they could offer me. This card features the printing press for the Penny Black issued 175 years ago this month.

Here are the two first class stamps issued by United Kingdom . I bought them in a Miniature sheet and they were also available in a booklet. Same size and look great. I did have a Penny Black used in Ireland one on cover and one off cover. They are not an expensive stamp. Sold it a few years ago.

Belfast Titanic and Gran Canaria

United Kingdom-Northern Ireland-Belfast This is the new Titanic Museum in Belfast . It is fantastic and well worth the visit. I spend a good few hours and still did not have enough time. This is where the iconic Titanic was built.

This is a United Kingdom Christmas stamp . I did not put a Northern Ireland stamp on this card as they have been on previous issues.

Atlantic Ocean-Gran Canaria-Mogan  This is the port on the island. Always visit here for lunch during my stay here. A nice charming fishing village

The Post office had no selection of stamps so just had to do with this one.

Mogan and Las Palmas Gran Canaria

Atlantic Ocean-Canary Islands-Gran Canaria-Puerto de Mogan  This is a  little sea side fishing village in Gran Canaria. Very nice to visit and have lunch . This is the view from a restaurant.

Ireland do not issue many joint stamp issues. Here is the one issued with Spain. Featuring Dancing and in this case Irish Dancing ie Riverdance type .

Atlantic Ocean-Canary Islands-Gran Canaria-Las Palmas  This is the capital of Gran Canaria. This is the famous Cathedral in the city.

Here is the Spanish stamp in the joint issue with Ireland. Dancing and in this case Flamenco Dancing. Don't see so much now but did a lot on my early trip to Spain with the family.

Canary Islands

Atlantic Ocean-Canary Islands-Gran Canaria-Playa del Ingles   When I was a lot younger visited Gran Canaria many times. But stayed in Puerto Rico . This time in Play del Ingles. It really is just about relaxing with friends and doing nothing. Not my usual type of trip, but still good not to concern oneself with seeing the sights.

I have to say I really like these stamps. Spanish Post offices tend to have limited stamps unless you go to a Philatelic head office.

Atlantic Ocean-Canary Islands-Gran Canaria-Playa del Ingles  Hotel Postcards are sort of gone out of fashion, so delighted to see one of my hotel . The key here is to get up early in the morning to get one of the sun loungers if you plan to sit by the pool.

At least you get clear cancellation here.
