New York and United Nations

North America-United States of America-New  York   Have not been here for a few years. On t his trip did visit the new One World Observatory which only opened a few weeks before I arrived. Here is a photo from the fold out Postcard I purchased in the gift shop.
This is a photo I took of a view from the viewing area. This is all inside.
Went into the Post office in Lexintgton Avenue, very near to were I was staying. Delighted to see a selection of stamps in a case I could choose from. I had to pick these Batman stamps. Reminded me of the first series I used to watch on the TV in the 1960s.
North America-United Nations New York  Visited here again on this trip. I did not take the tour as did the last time.
Was a first day of issue for these UNESCO stamps on the left , so got them . The Post office was less then helpful and you needed to be sure what you wanted.

New York and the United Nations

North America-United States of America-New York   Well this city has so much buzz day and night. I always  love coming in by taxi and seeing those tall skyscrapers for the first time.

Just got some regular stamps on this occasion. Not quite like me !. Still I do like these Flag stamps. I have sometimes mailed postcards from New York but they arrive home with no postmark.

North America-United Nations-New York   This is an official Postcard from the United Nations showing the UN building in New York.

Getting into the UN now in New York is a bit more hassle. Security is tighter. So in effect also if you want to just mail a letter from the UN post office. Still it is worth it. Here is another one of the personal stamps  you can get when there.

North America-United Nations-New York   A gift from the Government of Luxembourg . "Non Violence "

I always enjoy my visit to the UN in New York. Lots to see and a great book and gift shop.

North America and World Stamp Exhibition Washington DC

North America-United States of America-Washington DC  One of the most recognisable buildings in the world. The White House. Never did get to visit inside. I had a  chance in the 80s but said I would do it another time. So much to see in this city . Love the Smithsonian museum .

My first and only first day postmark in full colour. I was here in DC to visit the World Stamp Exhibition and this was the postmark for this issue. Wonders of  America. The first time I had ever seen a full colour postmark.

North America-United States of America-Washington DC This is The Jefferson Memorial.

This miniature sheet released on May 29 for the Exhibition. Beautiful stamps.

North America-United Nations New York-Washington DC  I love the illustrations on this postcard. from the book " This is the United Nations" . Like the first time you visit here when young and see all the stamps. How exciting it all was and still is.

This is the First Day of issue for these United Nations stamps. Postmarked in DC at the World Stamp Exhibition.

North America-United States of America-Virginia -Mount Vernon    Not very far from DC. Mount Vernon the home of George Washington . Well worth a visit.
