Benidorm Costa Blanca - Spain

Europe-Spain-Benidorm This card has a look of the 1970s about it. But it is really like this right now. Spend a nice few days here in October and the weather was great. Not full of tourist attractions, but great for just relaxation.

Spain seems to issue a number of tourist related stamps . I had one previous with flip flops. Here we have sun glasses. The cancellation was on the bottom of the card.. ...

Costa Del Sol - Spain

Europe-Spain-Costa del Sol I could not resist this card. The sunshine coast and a popular tourist spot. It shows all the resorts in the right order.

The Spanish postmark was on the bottom of this card so as it went through the Irish sorting office they postmarked the stamp. Not the first time I have seen this.

Alcazar Cordoba - Spain

Europe-Spain-Cordoba This is the Castle of Cordoba also known as the Alcazar de los Reyes Cristianos. This is also a World Heritage Site. I did not visit the interior as I could not find the entrance and gave up in the heart. !!

I suspect that all the mail posted in Cordoba is processed in Seville , looking at the postmark that is on this card. The stamp was purchased from the excellent Philatelic counter in Cordoba.

Europe-Spain-Cordoba This is the Cathedral Mosque of Cordoba one of the most important buildings in Spain and a World Heritage Site. Very different in ways and a great site to visit.

This is a beautiful mini block of a painting by Eduardo Arrovo. Showing two painters with their faces covered in paint. They have no eyes , blind to what they are doing. A very famous Spanish painter.

Barcelona and Tarragona

Europe-Spain-Barcelona One of my favourite cities. On this occasion visited the Picasso museum. This is one of Pablo Picasso's famous works "Margot"

I put this Miniature sheet on the back featuring the Cathedral in Barcelona. Not often one sees a Miniature sheet on a postcard.  I got this sheet in the Philatelic Section at the main Post office .

Europe-Spain-Tarragona  I had planned to visit this area many times so at last I got here. It is a train ride down from Barcelona. Here you see the wonderful World Heritage Site of Tarragona which is a Roman Amphitheatre.

I had a nice selection of stamps to use. In Spain most Post offices just issue labels, just like Ireland. A nice touch on the card is the stops on the train down from Barcelona.

Paris and Barcelona

Europe-France-Paris  I have for some time wanted to visit the Musee du Quai Branly in Paris. I had always been to busy. Well this time I managed to find the time. What a wonderful museum and you feel like you are walking through the world of Culture. So much to see. The African and Pacific displays were excellent.

Edward Hopper is an American artist and I gone to see a display in London a few years back. So great to see that France issued a stamp .

Europe-Spain-Barcelona  I have been to Barcelona more times then I can count. The Casa Batllo I had passed many times, taken photos but never gone inside. So this time I did and took a tour. A fabulous building in so many ways. Part of the World Heritage site of Gaudi.

Finding Post offices with special stamps in Spain is not easy. On a future trip I did manage to find the Head Post office and get a selection of stamps.

Posted in Avila with a clear postmark.

World Heritage Sites of Spain and United Kingdom

Europe-Spain-Atapuerca  This World Heritage Site, contains the earliest remains of Humans in Europe. Not much to see here except a small museum. The caves were the remains were found were not accessible to tourists when I was here.

Posted in the local Post office.

Europe-United Kingdom-England-Matlock Bath  The cotton mill here was first built in 1783. This whole  area was a part of the Industrial revolution taking place. It is very interesting to see the houses where the local workers lived. The Old factory has some of the original cotton machines and some even in use so you can see what it was like at that time. A World Heritage Site.
