Perlis and Langkawi

Asia-Malaysia-Perlis-Kuala Perlis  This is my trip across the sea to the mainland from Langkawi. Could not find a postcard so this a postcard of monkeys in the region.
Posted in Kuala Perlis, Perlis.
Asia-Malaysia-Kedah-Langkawi  Some more Macaque monkeys from the trip to Langkawai a beautiful island.
Posted in Datai in Langkawi.. This is the last postcard I have in the Malaysia series. Those eagle eyed among you would have noticed I have no State card with Stamps from Sarawak. My postcards never arrived home. So will have to go back some time in the future when in the region. I did however get a card with Malaysian stamps though when I was the area of the longhouses.

Cameron Highlands and Georgetown- Malaysia

Asia-Malaysia-Cameron-Pahang   This is a postcard from the hotel I stayed in here , Cameron Highlands hotel. Very nice and great service. Nice to get to the Highlands and the lower temperature

Loved this Miniature sheet from Malaysia. Got in the Post office here .

Asia-Malaysia-Penang  Georgetown is certainly one of my favourite cities in Malaysia. Last visit spend most time by the beach. This time stayed in the city and was able to enjoy the wonderful city sights. A great World Heritage Site.

A beautiful large stamp I purchase at the Post office in Penang. A very large Post office, but no philatelic counter.

Redang Island and Ipoh - Malaysia

Asia-Malaysia-Redang Island  I have to say this is equal to any beach in the world I have been on. The sand was like powder. Great views and not overcrowded. A 40 minute boat ride from the mainland.

No Post office on the Island so posted his in Terengganu. I usually don't put cards up that don't have a postmark, but this was such a memorable island to visit I have included it here.

Asia-Malaysia-Ipoh  Not a great selection of cards in Ipoh, so here is some local Malaysian fruit.

Posted in Ipoh.

Perak State and Malaysia

Asia-Perek-Ipoh   Sorry for the state of this card. It has been posted twice. I sent it from Ipoh but when I received it , it had no postmark. So I sent it back via my hotel and it arrived a few weeks later. So a little worse for wear. I did not see this mosque but the train station was very nice in Ipoh.

At least this now has the correct postmark.

Asia-Malaysia-Terengganu-Merang  Some beautiful beaches as we drove along the coast. Did not stay here just passed through.

This card was posted at the Post office /Petrol station in Merang.

Singapore and Malaysia

Asia-Singapore-Singapore City  This was my second visit to the Philatelic museum. However it is a  private company and not in association with the Post office. So you cannot buy a full selection of current issues. They have many older issues and from other countries, but at dealer prices. So a little bit disappointing on that score. Still a beautiful building.

These are the current definitive issue from Singapore. I had got these in a post office nearby . Unfortunately I had not got the time to find a full philatelic counter, as I was only in Singapore for the afternoon and evening. Still enjoyed it once I got over the shock of the price difference between Singapore and Malaysia.

Asia-Malaysia-Kelantan-Kota Bharu Not a very exciting city , never did manage to get to this food market.

A very nice postmark from Kota Bharu.

Asia-Saba-Kota Kinabalu  Here is a overview of Kota Kinabalu. A nice sized city and enjoyable location to visit.

These were the extra stamps on sale in the Post office in Kota Kinabalu.

Asia-Malaysia-Sabah-Kota Kinabalu This is the Rasa Ria Resort near Kota Kinabalu where I stayed. Showing the Swimming pool .

A miniature sheet I received from the Philatelic section in Kuala Lumpur when I purchased by mail the States stamps that were used for most of my trip.

Asia

Asia -Thailand-Bangkok  A postcard showing the genuine hospitality that you will find all over Thailand. Bangkok  has so much to offer and to see. I would need many postcards here to get a good overview

This card is unique. Well it is in my collection. I purchased the stamp in the Philatelic section in Bangkok. This is a high value stamp showing Queen Sirikit of Thailand. The stamp is gold embossed. This Postcard arrived by Registered Post. Normally it would be a packet or a envelope. As my postman said to me it is the first time he has seen a Registered postcard. Me too. Great Stamp.

Asia-Malaysia Melaka State. A street scene in Melaka. The buildings are certainly worth seeing .Melaka  is also a World Heritage site. A very good day trip from KL.

This card has its own little story. Posted in Melaka and duly arrived back home in Dublin. But with no postmark. So no good to me. I found a hotel in Selangor on the web . I mailed the card back saying how much I enjoyed my stay in the hotel, but had forgot to mail this postcard and would they be so kind to mail it for me. Well hey presto it came back this time with a clear Melaka postmark.

Asia-Malaysia Selangor State-Shah Alam. Showing the largest Mosque in South East Asia  in Selangor. Selangor is just outside KL.

States of Selangor stamps. Showing the then Sultan of Selangor. It has the largest economy in Malaysia.

Asia-Malaysia Federal States-Kuala Lumpur  The High Court of Malaysia, right down town.  When I came here first in 1989 was surprised how developed KL was.

These stamps are part of the Federal Territories of Malaysia. In Malay it reads  Wilayah  Persekutuan.

Asia-Malaysia-Kuala Lumpur  Also known as KL. Here we see Petronas Towers. One of the highest buildings in the world. A very impressive site. My first city to visit in Asia was KL. So it has a certain comfort feel for me. A lot less expensive then its neighbour Singapore.

This is the first Souvenir sheet show here on my blog. You have to make sure you have enough space. This sheet is showing the major ports of Malaysia.

Asia-Singapore-Singapore City  This is a scene from Clarke Quay. I have eaten here many times. Looks just like this at night time.  Singapore is a great business city with matching infrastructure.

Singapore always has beautiful stamps. These are stamps issued to show 150 years of stamps used in Singapore.. A good clear postmark.
