Bolivia, Peru, Ecuador and The Equator.

South America-Bolivia-Copacabana   Well I only had heard of Copacbana in Brazil. Well here is the one just across the border from Peru.

Was here over the weekend so was not sure if I could get stamps. Luckily I found a hotel  selling stamps.

South America-Bolivia-Isla del Sol  Went to visit Island of the Sun in the Southern part of Lake Titicaca. This Island has many ruins and no motor vehicles . Enjoyable day trip.

Had not got my normal selection of stamps as Post office closed. Was happy  to have got stamps in the first place.

South America-Peru-Lima  A wonderful historic centre and also a World Heritage Site. Especially enjoyed the Gold museum .

A circular postmark , my first one from Peru.

South America-Ecuador-Quito  Another great city to visit. Quite a lot of  white buildings around. This is also a World Heritage site.

This Postcard may have a stamp from Ecuador on it But.. because it was not postmarked it some how got a Irish Postmark coming into Ireland. I was not impressed. !!

South America-Ecuador-Linea Ecuatorial   This is a must do when you visit  Quito. This monument was on the line where the you can stand between Southern and Northern Hemispheres. But in fact it is not quite on the line. But no plans to move the monument. You can also go to  the correct marker near by.

Here we have a postcard with two postmarks from two different Countries. The round blue mark is from the Post office at the Equator showing the La Mitad del Mundo  and the the other postmark is the Irish one.

Cuzco and Machu Picchu Peru

South America-Peru- Ollantaytambo-Cuzco  This is a important archaeological and temple site 60 km Northwest of Cuzco  .

A stamp showing a lighthouse.

South America-Peru-Pisac-Cuzco This area is known for its market a very popular route  on the Inca trail.

A stamp with a stamp . !

South America-Peru-Machu Picchu  This is the most famous hotel and nearest hotel to Machu Picchu. A good dining experience and the great thing is you can have a good breakfast and still be one of the first up in the morning to visit Machu Picchu. Well worth the stay.

Here you can see the Machu Picchu postmark.

South America-Peru-Machu Picchu   Well sometimes when you go somewhere it does not live up to expectation. I had heard so much about here. Well I have to tell you it did live up to all that is said about Machu Picchu. A wonderful site and amazing. One of the best places to visit in the whole world. I spend hours here just taking the views in and wondering around. A different light in the morning and in the evening. Wow and a World Heritage site too.

Glad I got such a good selection of Peru stamps so I could try and have a different stamp on each card.

Cuzco Peru

South America-Peru-Cuzco  This postcard is showing many photos of the inside and outside of the famous Hotel in Cuzco Hotel Monasterio . A former Monastery.

Here you see the large postmarks you tend to see in Central and South America.

South America-Peru-Cuzco  Here is the centre of Cuzco . A lively city full of character . Cuzco is also a World Heritage Site. Certainly lives up to its reputation as a place to visit.Lots to see .

A faint postmark here. Got quite a selection of stamps from the Post office here.

South America-Peru-Sacsayhuaman  An excellent place to visit. Made up of walls showing polished stone and all fit together. Much more interesting then it sounds to be frank.

An interesting Postmark , looks like it says the word "Cancellation " on this.

South America-Peru-Cuzco  This area is in the Sacred Valley of Peru and considered to be a holy place.

Looks an interesting stamp but hard to see with the postmark.
