New York - USA

North America-United States of America-New York
Always a buzz when going to New York . There for good reason . Travelers Century Club, New York chapter  was having one of their regular meeting and I was a guest speaker. How cool was that. Of course I have been a speaker before at other events, but this one was full of energy and I really enjoyed it. Did the usual stuff , theatre and catching up with friends.

I took the opportunity to at long last visit what used to be the main Post office in New York City. There is very little part now which is the Post Office, but still impressive . James A Farley Building. I bought the stamps there , but had not got the postcard so ended up posting this in Midtown at the Post office I know there.

Got a lovely crisp postmark on this card. Always have to hand these wooden cards into the postmaster direct to make sure they understand what I like and not forget to do any postmarking.

Grand Canyon National Park

North America-United States of America-Arizona-Grand Canyon This is a World Heritage Site and I have to say it is truly amazing. It was one of those places on Earth I had been asked what it was like and I had to say I had not been. So it was s true delight to visit . It exceeded my expectations. The colours and the view.. Not to be missed.

There was a Post office on site and delighted to visit. They close early so I just about made it on time. They had a selection of stamps. I asked to post staff to handstamp the cards to make sure they get a Grand Canyon stamp.

North America-United States of America-Arizona-Kingman Passed through this area on my way to the Grand Canyon. Had a coffee stop and could not resist sending a postcard. Route 66 , perhaps the most famous road route in America ? .

A lack of postboxes makes it sometimes difficult to mail cards. This was sent from New York. .

I could not find a postbox anywhere near here, so it went via New York. The stamp in the middle is more impressive then it looks, as it is embossed.

New York and United Nations

North America-United States of America-New  York   Have not been here for a few years. On t his trip did visit the new One World Observatory which only opened a few weeks before I arrived. Here is a photo from the fold out Postcard I purchased in the gift shop.
This is a photo I took of a view from the viewing area. This is all inside.
Went into the Post office in Lexintgton Avenue, very near to were I was staying. Delighted to see a selection of stamps in a case I could choose from. I had to pick these Batman stamps. Reminded me of the first series I used to watch on the TV in the 1960s.
North America-United Nations New York  Visited here again on this trip. I did not take the tour as did the last time.
Was a first day of issue for these UNESCO stamps on the left , so got them . The Post office was less then helpful and you needed to be sure what you wanted.

Tampa and Orlando-USA

North America-United States of America-Florida-Tampa   It is my first time to post a Magnet online. But this was the only way I could get a postcard on the ship also a magnet. This is the Carnival Legend . Finishing up in Tampa .

This card is quite heavy for the mail man, but delighted to have it. I dare say not many people actually use them as postcards.

North America-United States of America-Florida-Orlando  I rented a car and went from Tampa to Orlando for a few days. It is over 20 years since I had been here so interesting to see the changes . Went to Disney World , but not up to as much as I was when younger. Here is a 3 D type card . Very colourful. There is no longer a post office in Disney , just a regular mail box.

Some colourful stamps with a Orlando postmark.

Miami

North America-United States of America-Miami  This was the cruise ship I did that trip on that has been uploaded featuring the Caribbean. I have been on a good few Carnival Ships, I would say they at the Value end of the market. Still it got me to where I wanted to go and the bedrooms are larger then most.

Despite what the card says, the end stop was in fact Miami. I got confused as I had started in Fort Lauderdale , but the ship sailed from Miami. Great set of stamps here. . Normally I don't put this here, but moved over to Mac from a PC this week. So it takes a bit of time sorting all out. But getting there. A least I am now also getting all my photos in order so when I get to the stage of uplifting those, they should be in some order. .
