Sicily and Aeolean Islands

Europe-Sicily-Cefalu  Well I really loved this place  Just wonderful to walk around. It is also the setting for part of the famous movie "Cinema Paradiso . 

There seems to be two sorting offices in Sicily , either Palermo or Catania. 

Europe-Sicily-Aeolean Islands-Limpari  A great last Island to finish this trip on. Got Ferry from Sicily. A good walk up to the church which  you can see on this postcard. These Islands are part of a World Heritage Site. A fab part of Italy.

Sicily and Lampedusa

Europe-Sicily-Villa Romana Del Casale This is the fresco on the floor from the Villa Romana del Casale. It is a very busy tourist site. A old  Roman villa with great frescos. Here you can see one of the famous ones with great colour. A World Heritage Site. 

This card was posted near the site , but I see it has a Catania Postmark. 

Europe-Sicily-Noto Driving around Sicily is such a great trip. Lots of old towns, like this one. Also a World Heritage site. The big thing here is the Ice Cream. Considered to be the best in the world.! Well it was very nice for sure. 

The Post offices down this way had no choice in stamps . Have to go to a larger city for that. So it is just plain Italian Definitive stamps . 

Europe-Lampedusa   This island is now famous for I guess the wrong reasons. It is nearer to Africa then Europe. Now many Africans try to get here as their nearest entry into Europe. Unfortunately many have now drowned trying to get here. In 2008 when I was here , it was not such a large problem then, or I did not  notice it. I had to arrive from Sicily by Ferry as the the flights were not going at the time in October 2008. Some Italians come down from the mainland as it extends their summer. When here I was swimming in the sea and very nice white beaches. Lampedusa is quite small especially the main town. This Island was in fact my last Country / Territory /Area to visit in Europe. I had still to go back to Poland , as never sent a postcard the last time. 

There is a Post office here ok, but the mail is sent to Palermo for processing. 

New York

North America-United States of America-New York  I had been to New York many times , but not to the Statue of Liberty. So on this occasion I did visit  Could not go up inside at this time. Another World Heritage Site.

North America-United States of America-New York   This is the famous Guggenheim Museum designed by Frank Lloyd Wright. My first time here too.

Bermuda

Atlantic Ocean-Bermuda-Hamilton  Flew to Bermuda from New  York. Bermuda is not on very many Cruise ship plans as to far north out of the Caribbean. Still enjoyed my few days here. 

The Post office here had a good selection of stamps . But the postmark is not great. Still better then some places when the stamps don't get cancelled. 

Atlantic Ocean-Bermuda-St.Georges   The Historic Town of St.George is a World Heritage Site. Bermuda is a British Overseas Territory . St Gerorge's, is a old town and certainly worth visiting. 

Same Postmark here as in Hamilton. 

Vermont and Rhode Island

North America-United States of America-Vermont-Woodstock  Passing through this town on my way to Rhode Island 

I like the name , " White River Junction" as a laser postmark. 

North America-United States of America-Rhode Island-Newport  Here you see the Newport Bridge. 

A standard USA Airmail Definitive stamp. 

North America-United States of America-Rhode Island-Newport  Enjoyed the visit to this home. Considered to be the number one attraction in Rhode Island. 

Here we have a Providence postmark. The last stop on my New England journey . 

Maine and New Hampshire

North America-United States of America-Maine-Augusta   The State Capital of Maine. Visited inside the Capital building and even sat in the chamber. 

Southern Maine postmark and more cinema stamps 

North America-United States of America-Maine-Belfast   I went a little out of my way to visit this small town . Reason is due to its name Belfast the same as the main city in Northern Ireland.

North America-United States of America-New Hampshire-Portsmouth Cant recall to much about here, Just past through and had a coffee break.

Maine-United States of America

North America-United States of America-Maine-Portland A beautiful setting this lighthouse was very nice to visit in the morning. 

Mickey Mouse stamps, what more can one say ! 

North America-United States of America-Maine-Camden  This harbour and area was where part of  the musical film "Carousel" was filmed .

North America-United States of America-Maine-Freeport  Well this place is a institution for sure. A very large retail store and very interesting too . Finishing the day, shopping not really me, but well worth it.

New England

North America-United States of America-Boston  My first time here and really enjoyed it .The base for my tour of New England. Had a friend from here to show me around and makes a big difference. This was August a great time to visit. Boston easy to walk around , just like Europe. 

A Standard Boston postmark. I don't recall to much about the Post offices on this trip. 

North America-United States of America-Ogunquit Maine   Another nice town. Love all the wooden buildings and feel of this place. Feels sort of old world from the 1950s. Not that I was around then ! 

Frank Sinatra on stamps.. 

North America-United States of America- Kennebunkport Maine   A famous town were President Bush has a summer house. Had great lobsters here.

Albania - World Heritage Sites

Europe-Albania-Butrini  The top two  cards here are from World Heritage sites in Albania. This is the Amphiteatre  in Butrini. Very enjoyable visit. 

All these postcards got posted in local areas, but I see they all ended up with a Saranda Postmark. 

Europe-Albania-Gjirokastra   These houses were amazing and I visited one of them inside. Very tall. 

It is usual for me to use the same stamps on each card,but that is all the Post office had. 

Europe-Albania-Saranda  I had arrived by ferry from Cofu. A short trip away. Actually this was a very nice town to visit. I spend the full day on this trip and it was great. I had been to Albania twice before. Once to Tirana in the mid 1980s and then a few years ago crossing the border from Romania. Albania has certainly moved onwards and  upwards since my last visit. 

At lest the postmark is quite clear. 

Ionian Islands- Corfu

Europe-Ionian Islands-Corfu  This beautiful island was my last major island to visit in Greece. As it happens it was also my favourite. I stayed in the Old town and it had great atmosphere. Be it day or night time it was most enjoyable. The old town was also made a World  Heritage site. 

This Greek Post office had not got a selection of stamps. Still nice to see blue skies on any stamp to match the views on the Island.
